Police Intercept Truck Conveying N30M Goods Stolen From Kaduna

A suspected robber who hijacked a trailer truck conveying 35 tons of groundnut oil valued at approximately N30 million, has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command.

The Command said the Toro Divisional Police Headquarters received a distress call concerning the theft of the truck parked at Maraban Jos trailer park in Kaduna State on April 12, 2024.

Spokesman of the Bauchi Command, SP Ahmed Wakil, in a statement on Sunday, said the stolen truck, a DAF CF 85 model, was coming from Umuahia in Abia State heading to Kano State when it was stolen in Kaduna State.

According to the statement, preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the truck had stopped around the Maraban Jos trailer park to take his bath only to return later and discover that the trailer was missing from where it was parked.

The statement further revealed that the Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, CP Auwal Muhammad, has directed that a discreet investigation be carried out by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) on the theft of the truck.

The Police said the suspect would be charged to court upon completion of investigation of the incident.
